Sports Premium

With the Government are continuing with their grant allowance, called the Primary PE and Sport Funding, to support all children and improve the quantity, quality, and breadth of PE and sport provision.

Our indicative Primary and Sport Funding for 2018/19 is £17,830. Schools will be given 65% in October 2018 and 35% in April 2019.

At Broadway Primary School we have developed our use of the grant to provide extra coaching sessions for children at the school and to develop teachers’ skillset on delivery of PE through the use of observing coaches. We have done this in order to provide a committed two hours of curriculum PE within school time. This year, our after school provision consists of:

Lastly, we have continued our membership with the Rossendale Valley Sports Trust which offers CPD opportunities for the PE Coordinator, access to Change4life resources, entry into Level 2 and Level 3 sports competitions and inclusive competitions. How is this sustainable?

Through our partnership with Rossendale Sports Trust, we can provide the PE co-ordinator and staff free CPD opportunities which are allowing staff to embed and deepen their skillset. This is enabling staff to continually develop career-long skills with regards to teaching PE. Through the use of the Change4life club, children’s attitudes towards sport, exercise and nutrition are changing towards a more sustainable lifestyle choice. Rossendale Sports Trust are also providing coaches to work alongside staff in every year group to gain valuable expertise in each unit that we are required to teach.

We are also using our partnership to provide lunch time clubs three days a week with the impetus being on providing a fun, safe environment for all our children to enjoy..

What outcomes are we working towards?

Outstanding PE provision across the school (curriculum, assessment, use of TA’s)

Increase of knowledge from staff with regards to teaching PE.

Obtaining gold accreditation for the School’s Games awards.

30 minutes of daily, vigorous activity.

80% of children to have participated in at least one after school club throughout the year.

Impact measure:
Broadway will measure the impact of the Sports Premium by using questionnaires with pupils, attendance of CPD opportunities by staff, participation in sporting events and attendance figures of the sports clubs.

Impact from last year –
We obtained silver accreditation for the Sainsbury’s school games.

We entered a range of Level 2 competitions including football, netball, cricket, gymnastics, athletics and handball. During these events, we had over 40 different children participate.

50% of Key Stage 2 children attended after school clubs last year. 60% of Key Stage One children attended after school clubs last year.

We held five Level One competitions which were directly linked with our house system.
